Located on the Atami Highlands, with a magnificent view of Sagami Bay, the MOA Museum of Art focuses on art collected by its founder, Shigekichi Okada, including Japanese, Chinese, and other Eastern artworks.
The museum houses around 3,500 items, including three national treasures.
In February 2017, the exhibition space was renovated by modern artist Hiroshi Sugimoto and architect Toshiyuki Sakakita through the “New Materials Research Institute,” which also redesigned the museum’s café and shop.
This year marks the eighth anniversary of the new design. This spring, the museum will showcase representative masterpieces from its collection, including the national treasure “Red and White Plum Blossoms Folding Screen” by Ogata Korin, in a special exhibition titled “Masterpieces Exhibition.”

Additionally, visitors can stroll through the nearby Zuigunko Plum Garden, where about 360 ancient plum trees bloom alongside cherry blossoms, offering a captivating view and allowing guests to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Atami’s spring.
