Harajuku continues to be the ultimate destination for “tabearuki” (walking and eating). While the vibrant spirit of Takeshita Street remains, several iconic spots have evolved, relocated, or been replaced by new “Kawaii” sensations.
In 2026, these colorful and oversized treats are still the stars of Tokyo’s street food scene.

TOTTI CANDY FACTORY, Harajuku
Located in the middle of the famous Takeshita Street, TOTTI CANDY FACTORY is where cotton candy gets its most colorful twist. In 2026, it remains an icon of “Kawaii” culture, often seeing lines of excited tourists and locals alike.

Only at the Harajuku branch can you get the massive Harajuku Rainbow Cotton Candy for about ¥1,000.

If the giant rainbow is too much to finish, they also offer the TOTTI Three-Color Cotton Candy and the Rainbow Bucket, which makes for a great take-home souvenir.

Freshness is key! Japanese cotton candy is sensitive to humidity, so be sure to take your photos quickly and enjoy it immediately while it’s still light and fluffy.

Tabearuki Etiquette
While walking and eating is part of the Harajuku experience, please remember that many shops now encourage you to stay in front of the store or in designated areas while you finish your treat. This helps keep the narrow streets clear and ensures that trash is disposed of in the shop’s own bins!
