Summer in Japan is synonymous with kakigori! Have you heard about Japan’s amazing shaved ice varieties? You can find these at festivals too but Japan has many gourmet-style shaved ice too! It is definitely the next level of this simple dessert loved by everyone. We’ve put together some of our favorite stores in Osaka which have unique versions of this refreshing dessert!

Togglecocoo cafe (コクウカフェ)
This shop remains a “holy grail” for shaved ice fans because of its Creme Brulee Kakigori, which is still torched right in front of you. However, it is now one of the hardest seats to get in Osaka.
Other than the unusual and unique shaved ice mentioned above, you also can have flavors like coffee, black tea, matcha, raspberry and seasonal items.
cocoo cafe(コクウカフェ)

Note: The shop has moved to a complete reservation-only system. Reservations usually open one week in advance on their online portal and often sell out within minutes.
Kakigori Kenkyujo
This place elevates the simple shaved ice in a pretty way! A particularly popular flavor is the Sakura Mochi Mochi Gori(桜もちもち氷)which is decorated with strawberries!
Other than the pretty strawberry shaved ice, you can also try kumquat pistachio, peaches, matcha flavors.

Each month has a limited menu exploring a wide range of ingredients assembled in unique shapes! The Sakura Kakigori below is limited to April and only 10 of these are served a day.
In March, you get a cute pumpkin in front of you – Himalayan rock salt, caramelized pumpkin shaved ice!
