Its first location, situated in Kichijoji, opened in January 2022 and within less than six months, this restaurant became incredibly popular, sparking the hamburger patty trend in Japan.

However, enjoying the hamburger patty here is not easy. Therefore, we will provide a guide on how to register for the queue and how to enjoy the hamburger patty. So for those who want to try it, please make sure to take note carefully!

Queue Registration Guide at “Hikiniku To Come” Shibuya

This time, we visited the second branch in Shibuya. The hamburger patty, grilled over charcoal directly on an open flame and paired with freshly cooked white rice, creates the perfect combination.

No wonder that even though people have to wait for up to two hours to get a queue number, nothing can stop them from trying it.

Each seat in this restaurant faces directly toward the kitchen area, so customers can clearly see the cooking process.

Seating Types and Reservation System

This Shibuya branch has a total of 31 seats, consisting of 25 regular seats and 6 reserved seats.

For visitors who do not want to wait in line, they can reserve a seat via the reservation link on the restaurant’s official website.

Reservations open every Friday at 09:00 for the following week, from Monday to Sunday.

The reservation fee for a regular seat is 1,000 yen, which cannot be deducted from the meal cost. The dining time limit is one hour, and guests must share tables with others.

On the other hand, the reservation fee for a private seat is 20,000 yen for a maximum of 6 people, and the dining time limit is two hours. Be sure to carefully read the terms and conditions before making a reservation.

Queue Registration Guide for Regular Seats at at Hikiniku to Come

Queue registration starts every day at 09:00. On holidays, registration may start earlier.

The restaurant also posts an announcement at the entrance, so make sure to follow the queue instructions to avoid disturbing pedestrians.

If you truly want to dine here, it is highly recommended to arrive before 08:00.

Make sure you don’t have any other appointments that require punctuality. Flexibility with time will give you a better chance of securing a seat.

Since the restaurant begins registering for lunch and dinner early in the morning, if you arrive and find that lunch is fully booked, you can ask the staff if there are still slots available for dinner.

The restaurant frequently updates the queue status on their Twitter account. So, if you’re running late and are unsure whether you can still register, check their Twitter first.

Usually, many people sign up for dinner, and some of them are foreign visitors. However, the restaurant staff is quite fluent in English, so you don’t need to worry about language barriers.

One person can register for up to 6 people in the same time slot, but cannot register for two different time slots simultaneously.

The queue number is very important, so make sure not to lose it. Arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time at the restaurant’s 3rd-floor entrance to wait for your name to be called.

If your name is called and you are not present, your seat will be canceled, and you will not be allowed to enter separately.

How to Enjoy a Delicious Hamburger Patty

Once your number is confirmed, you may need to wait a bit longer until your seat is ready. After that, you will be invited to enter.

At the door, you must first place your order using an automatic ordering machine before sitting down. In Shibuya, you can pay with cash or credit card.

Everyone is required to order a set menu priced at 1,600 yen, which includes three 90g hamburger patties, refillable white rice, miso soup, and a raw egg.

After placing your order, you will be given a receipt that must be handed to the kitchen staff. The process of making the hamburger patties will begin after that.

On the table, there is a wooden board with numbers from 1 to 3, and each time a hamburger patty is finished, the staff will move the corresponding number so you know which patty is being processed.

Once seated, open the drawer next to the table, and you will find everything you need for eating.

Inside, there is an explanation sheet about the restaurant’s commitment and unique features, such as the minced meat that is ground and made fresh on-site every day, the hamburger patties grilled in front of customers over an open flame, and the rice that is freshly cooked.

On the other side of the sheet, you will find an explanation of the various condiments that can be used to enhance the flavor of the hamburger patty.

There are eight condiment containers on the table, and a complete explanation is provided so you will know what is inside each container!

The available condiments include pickled cabbage with ume vinegar, edible soy sauce, raw soy sauce, lemon salt with green chili, green chili preserved in olive oil, Mongolian spicy chili powder, pepper sauce, and crispy fried garlic.

The staff in the kitchen will grill the hamburger patty in front of you, and the entire restaurant will be filled with the tempting aroma of charcoal smoke.

The cooked hamburger patty will be placed on the grill in front of you. If you prefer it more cooked, you can heat it further to your liking.

Once the hamburger patty is served, the hot white rice and miso soup will also be served together.

The staff recommends that you taste the hamburger patty for the first time without any condiments, then add seasonings to your taste. The grilled hamburger patty is truly delicious!

In Shibuya, when you receive your second hamburger patty, you will be served grated daikon radish and homemade lime vinegar.

This grated daikon is intentionally made coarse to retain more liquid, which helps reduce the sharp spiciness of the radish.

This service is only available at the Shibuya branch and is perfect for those who enjoy their hamburger patty with a Japanese touch.

For the third hamburger patty, you can use the raw egg provided. Mix the egg with raw soy sauce and enjoy the hamburger patty like yakiniku, or you can directly mix the egg yolk on top to create a “tsukimi hamburger,” which is also very delicious.
