Shimokitazawa in Tokyo is loved by many for its hipster vibe with plenty of secondhand shops and cafes scattered around. One such café is Shiro-Hige’s Cream Puff Factory, which features images of Totoro. This café has been given official license by Studio Ghibli to use the images from Totoro!
And one of the reasons that this café has gained fame is the unbelievably cute Totoro-shaped cream puff!
The Café Experience
At the entrance, you are welcomed by a variety of Totoro dolls and framed images, as well as an English menu.
The 1st floor is a souvenir shop, and the cafe is on the 2nd floor. It is best to check if there are seats on the 2nd floor before purchasing your puffs.
Each customer has to order a minimum of one drink.
The cream puffs are available with the following fillings: custard and fresh cream, chocolate cream, and seasonal flavors such as strawberry cream and green tea and azuki cream.
Distinguishing the Flavors
Each puff comes with a different decoration on the ears so that you can distinguish the flavors!
The Totoro with a leaf has the custard filling, while the hatted Totoro has a chocolate filling. Which one will you choose?
