Table of Contents
Toggle1. Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai

One of the most talked-about BL anime releases of 2026, “Isekai no Sata wa Shachiku Shidai”, officially debuted in January! The series is based on the popular light novel written by Yatsuhashi with illustrations by Kikka Ohashi.

The story follows Seiichiro Kondo, an overworked corporate slave who always prioritizes efficiency above all else. On his way home from work, he gets accidentally dragged into a Holy Maiden summoning ritual and transported to a fantasy world. Determined to secure his own safety, Seiichiro lands a job in the royal palace. However, his overworked body lacks tolerance for the fantasy world’s “mana,” putting his life in grave danger. To survive, he requires regular transfusions of mana—which happens to be provided by Aresh, the handsome “Ice Prince” and Commander of the Third Order of Knights. Bound by mana and work duties, their relationship slowly begins to blossom into love.
2. Tamaranai no wa Koi na no ka?

Adapted from Mia Sorahana’s manga A Love Too Captivating, this title aired in April 2025 across TV channels and digital platforms like “Full☆Anime TV.” Spanning just a single episode, it serves as a wonderful, sweet introduction to the BL genre.
When honor student Kitahara gets cornered by local bullies, he is unexpectedly rescued by a delinquent named Misuzu. Intrigued by Misuzu—who never wanted to become a delinquent in the first place—Kitahara tries to get closer to him. Misuzu attempts to keep his distance to protect Kitahara from trouble, but Kitahara’s gentle persistence begins to melt his heart. As Kitahara discovers Misuzu’s cute side, the emotional distance between them quickly vanishes.
3. Shota Oni / Ore to Yuu-ni!

Adapted from Yuki Nakayama’s manga Shota Oni (Ore to Yuu-ni!), the story centers around Tsubaki Sawashiro, a pure-hearted 10-year-old fifth grader who adores his high school neighbor, Yu Shimizu. Since their families are close neighbors, Yu has doted on Tsubaki like a younger brother since childhood.
One day, Tsubaki notices that he accidentally injured Yu when he was younger, leaving a permanent scar. Overwhelmed with regret, Tsubaki secretly vows to protect Yu for the rest of his life. Though Tsubaki is still too young to fully understand the nature of his romantic feelings, he works tirelessly to close the gap between them—including his height! Even though Yu continues to treat him like a kid due to their seven-year age gap, Tsubaki never gives up on expressing his devotion. If you love wholesome, heartwarming stories featuring a determined younger lead, this one is highly recommended!
4. Sai Oshi no Gikei o Mederu Tame, Nagaiki Shimasu!

Based on the light novel written by Tenma Asahi with illustrations by Kazuaki (and manga adaptation by Tsugumi Tsujimoto), this anime is the debut project from “BALLOON Project,” a studio gaining significant traction for its BL short animations.
The protagonist, Alba, is an ordinary person who gets reincarnated into a poor noble family inside an otome game. Sickly and unable to use magic, Alba is prophesied to die young. Later adopted by a ducal family, Alba discovers that his new stepbrother, Orsis, happens to be his absolute favorite character (“my push”) from his previous life’s game! While thrilled to be near him, Alba realizes that under the game’s original plotline, his own premature death will destroy Orsis’s smile forever. Determined to keep his favorite person happy, Alba resolves to dodge every death flag and work hard on his health.

5. Perfect Addiction

After winning first place in the Romantic Comedy category at the 2025 BL Awards and surpassing 1.5 million copies in sales, the mega-popular Perfect Addiction was adapted into a live-action drama before becoming BALLOON Project’s second major BL short anime release.
Akihito Kuji, an unabashed superficial guy, is thoroughly annoyed by Sae Takatsuki at a group date. Despite Sae’s handsome looks, his cold attitude makes him the center of attention among the women. Unexpectedly, Akihito runs into Sae in a hotel district and discovers that Sae is actually gay, has never been in love, and has never felt satisfied in bed. Becoming intimate partners, the two find out they are surprisingly compatible in the bedroom—and as they spend more time together, they find themselves falling deeper for one another.

6. Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!

Adapted from Harunokaze’s beloved manga Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!, the story follows Sakamoto Nakamura, an introverted, closeted high school boy who falls head over heels for his classmate, Aiki Hirose, at the start of the school year.
Nakamura constantly daydreams about talking to Hirose and playing out romantic scenarios in his head, only for his poor social skills to result in dramatic, comedic failures. However, through their small everyday interactions, Nakamura gradually builds up his self-confidence, bridges the gap between them, and forms a genuine friendship. The series delicately captures the awkwardness of a teenager navigating his identity and social life, evoking fond nostalgia for student days. If you love retro aesthetics, pure-hearted romance, and sweet school-life comedy, this is a must-watch.

7. Yatara Yarashii Fukami-kun

Adapted from Ayaka Matsumoto’s hit manga Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami, the series aired its anime adaptation in 2025 and followed up with a live-action drama adaptation in 2026.
Akihiro Kaji, a charming salesman on the outside who secretly judges and scores everyone around him, is forced to go on an overnight business trip with his scruffy, unassuming tech-department colleague, Yu Fukami. While Kaji is searching for the “perfect bottom” worthy of his high standards, he catches sight of Fukami fresh out of the bath. Suddenly, Fukami appears irresistibly cute and seductive, completely turning Kaji’s scoring system upside down! To see how these two navigate a romance where neither wants to admit their true feelings, don’t miss this show.
8. Karaoke Iko!

Created by Wayama Yama as a self-published doujinshi in 2019, Karaoke Iko! sold out instantly at conventions before being picked up as an official commercial manga in 2020. Having already spawned live-action film and stage play adaptations, it was announced alongside Wayama Yama’s other popular work, Captivated by You (Muchu sa, Kimi ni.), for an anime adaptation release in July 2025.

Satomi Oka, a third-year middle school student and president of the school choir, is approached by a yakuza member named Kyoji Narita right after his final middle school competition. To avoid finishing last in his syndicate’s internal singing contest, Kyoji begs Satomi to give him singing lessons. Every two weeks, Satomi is dragged to a karaoke box to coach him. Though Satomi is initially reluctant, an endearing and unexpected bond begins to form between the unlikely pair.
9. Given: Glimpses of Life (GIVEN 10th mix OAD)

The hugely popular BL franchise Given, created by Natsuki Kizu, has captured hearts worldwide through its audio dramas, TV anime, OVA, and film releases. Following the conclusion of the manga in 2023 and the theatrical releases of Given: Hiiragi Mix and Given: To the Sea, the franchise continues to hold legendary status in the BL community. The story of Mafuyu Sato, Ritsuka Uenoyama, Haruki Nakayama, and Akihiko Kaji—who find healing and growth through music and love—is beloved for its delicate emotional storytelling and clean art style.
The animated OAD Given: Glimpses of Life, which depicts the characters 10 years later, was included as a limited-edition bonus with the release of the Given 10th Mix manga in October 2025. Featuring four short anime segments— “Feathering”, “To the Mountain”, “Waltz of Love”, and “Given Selection”—this release is an absolute must-watch for dedicated fans and an incredible gateway for newcomers alike.
10. Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu (The Summer Hikaru Died)

Written by Mokumokuren, Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu topped the male readers’ category in the Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2023 rankings.
