February is just around the corner, and spring is almost here! When we think of spring, the first image that comes to mind is cherry blossoms, isn’t it? Tokyo is a world-class destination for viewing these blooms, but did you know that one of the city’s best secret spots is located right next to Tokyo Dome City?
At Koishikawa Korakuen, you can see rare cherry blossom varieties and enjoy the harmony of a traditional Japanese garden. For your 2026 spring trip, here is the updated guide to this beautiful area!

ToggleA beautiful Japanese garden, Koishikawa Korakuen
Koishikawa Korakuen is a Japanese garden located close to Tokyo Dome. With over an 80-year history, this garden is also designated as a special historic site as well as a national scenic beauty. Many people visit this garden to take pictures or to sketch.

This garden looks beautiful in any season, but the view of cherry blossoms in spring is the most breathtaking! You can find many kinds of cherry blossom trees lining the pond located in the center of the garden.

The age of the weeping cherry tree close to the entrance is about 60 years old. This tree offers a spectacular view when it is in full bloom in late March.

Somei Yoshino is the most popular variety of cherry blossoms, and the tree is usually in full bloom from late March to early April. In addition, Ukon Zakura, a rare variety of cherry blossoms with yellow-hued blossoms also blooms in this garden. Since it blooms later than Somei Yoshino, the cherry blossoms viewing period in Koishikawa Korakuen is slightly longer than other places.

Koishikawa Korakuen is open from 9:00 to 17:00 (last admission is at 16:00), and the closest exit to this garden is exit C3 of Iidabashi station on the Toei Oedo line. We recommend visiting this garden early to enjoy a morning walk while admiring the breathtaking view of cherry blossoms!
